Camp ‘Imi-Possible is back this summer and proudly presents “Fantastic Bugs and Where to Find Them!”
This weeklong camp, from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. daily, will be offered in two sessions: June 3-7 for keiki in grades K-2 and July 22-26 for children in grades 3-4.
For each of the sessions, campers will embark on an insect-igation of Hawaii’s curious creatures and their habitats. These young scientists will explore Hawaii’s endemic insects and spiders — our not-so-creepy crawlies found here and nowhere else in the world.
During this camp adventure, participants also will discover mimicry, locomotion and adaptation through inquiry, investigation and engineering. They will go on an adventure to the farthest corners of Hawaii to observe Maunakea’s famous wekiu bug, follow the life cycle of the Kamehameha butterfly and navigate why our cave-dwelling insects and spiders lost their sight, just to name a few.
Filled with hands-on activities, games and art projects, this camp promises to be engaging, entertaining and educational.
Registration for both camp sessions is now open.
Cost for ‘Imiloa members is $225 per child, or $250 per child for non-members. Each grade level is limited to 16 students, so register now.
Registration packets are available from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at ‘Imiloa or at https://imiloahawaii.org/fantasticbugs.
